mount faber run 10km

Today is the event of mount faber run 10km. Left my house approx 5:15am; was abit “kiasu” in order to avoid full parking. Reached there and realized i was among the few earliest runners. Drank a can of red bull and eat 1 banana for energy. Met up with NX; one of the sgrunner and went for a short warmup run.
The race started 7.30pm sharp. Weather is quite hot and humid. Ran well for the 1st few kilometers. The first water point is located before running up the slope towards mount faber. Drank a little of diluted H20 and off i go. It was indeed a challenge for all the runners yesterday as the slope is quite steep and long. All we see ahead is slope after slope. but its very rewarding when we finally see downslope. It seems that i am sliding against the route rather than running downslope. Its very fun indeed.
Something which i realized was the distance between 7th and 8th km was abit too short; indicated by my polar watch. But the distance was recovered on the 8th and 9th kilometer. When i saw the 9th kilometer sign, i told myself i would want to come in sub 1hr. When i thought i was about the reach the finishing line, there is a misleading sign indicating 1km more to go. i was OMG! i cant make it on time below 1hr.
I pick up my pace and overtake alot of runners. When i finally see the finishing line, i rushed towards it and came in a nett time of 59:53.3. To my surprise, my polar watch indicated a total distance of 10.38km and my speed was like 14.8km/hr max and 10.4km/hr avg speed.
Thank god i came in sub 1hr which is a very good sign for my upcoming events.
I will be resting for a week due to my right knee cap is injured. Hope i will get well asap and back on track.
