15km Recovery @ Singapore Passion Run 2008
Today 08 June 2008, is Singapore Passion Run 2008. This running event is hosted 2nd time in Singapore. Met my friends and pick up them @ 4.45am. Slept for only 2 hours becos of euro match -.-. Reached there at around 5.15am and the carpark still sort of empty. Ate a powerbar and drank a can of red bull to get myself prepared for the run.
Race started exactly @ 6.30am. I am at the 1st wave with one of my army friend, wei xian. Once it flagged off, i told wei xian that i will see him at finishing point. 1st 3km was alright; As i ate the powerbar and feels thirsty, hence drank a bit of water at the 1st water point.
While i was running, got one guy wearing OCS singlet sprinted infront of me. I slowly catched up his pace and he begin to sprint again with his friend. He was hinting to challenge me; he even laugh with his fellow friend, i ignored and carry on with my own pacing.
At 11km+, i saw tat guy again. He was walking. After which, i slowly ran passed him and give him a stare look. I would want to encourage him to push on but I shouldn’t be kind since he and his fellow mates laughed at me earlier on.
I carried on running. At 13km, my thighs start to ache; i guess i do not have enough recovery from my 84km. Luckily, there was this guy behind me pushed me on. He told me that 2 more km only and ask him to follow his pacing. I followed his pacing for about 1km and we are at our own pace. Thank to the unknown guy whom actually pushed me through.
I came in at a net timing of 01:25:46. My ranking was 392 out of 2048 (15km runners). I would consider not bad as this is just a recovery run for me. But i should not be complacent of such timing; but rather disgrace of having such lousy timing.
I will push myself harder and train hard for my upcoming army half marathon. Till then, see u at next race…
train hard and train smart
