Real Run 2008 Review
Woke up 4am and getting myself prepared for today real run 2008 at changi. Ate a banana and drink a can of red bull before leaving my house and drove there. Reached there approx 5:15 and found out i was quite early. End up i fall slpt in car till approx 6:45am.
Saw one of my sgt, eng chuan and his friends. Chatted a while and the race begin 7:45am sharp. Started off with a 4km mud trial, due to hot weathr these few days, there are no mud…all are small pebbles. Just like our fieldcamp during army daze.
Went on well for the 1st 4km and the weather is getting hot. I have a bad experience last year real run as it was very very hot. Feels very cooling when i reached the “string of lights” road. At least there are trees to block the sun. I have no problem with the stretch and long road as i have ran there 2 TIMES during sundown marathon 84km.
Made a U-Turn and head towards changi beach. This time round they are smart to close the most corner end of the beach…last year alot of pple ran there to avoid the sandy part..lolx. anyways along the way, there are alot of students from i think SJI encourage those runners; which i find it better than last year.
Head back to finishing point and OMG..the SUN! i kept telling myself..im going to conquer this time, unlike last year. Attained a Personal Best of 1″23″11 at a distance of 15.26km. I was quite happy with my result and assuring myself that my training does not goes down the drain.
When i got back to my car, i changed to slipper and walked back to exhibition centre. On my way, i saw my sgt and he had leg cramps. I paced him and encouraged him to finish off (left 200m+). Along the way, saw one of the sgrunners, ripley. She took a few photos of me but luckily didnt show i was wearing slippers lolx. so “malu”. anyways thanks to her.
Lastly, grab my car and off i go. wa lao..didnt realize that their road re-opens at 10am. waited in the queue for almost 1/2 hr and i switched off my engine to save petrol. lolx. anyway reached home and gone to work.
What a tiring day…but ended quite happily. Congrats to all runners whom have completed either your 10km /15km run. Have a good rest.
