This year Singapore Passion Run 2010 was a totally new experience, with its new distance, 25km and evening race.  I strongly believed it was catered for those participants whom will be doing sundown marathon 1 week later.

Anyways, i participated the 25km men’s solo with 2 of my friends. As instructed from the booklet, it is best recommended to park our vehicle at stadium instead of east coast park to avoid massive traffic jam etc. My friends and I reached Stadium at about 2.45pm and the queue to the shuttle bus was forming up. It took us about 15mins before boarding the shuttle bus. I was shocked that the shuttle bus does not bring us to the start point but instead, it alighted us infront of victoria school and we have to walk about 1-1.5km distance. Well, perhaps a good warm up before a race? Leave our baggage at the counter and getting ready for the 25km distance to kick off. My friends and I was unable to go on the 1st wave but luckily 2nd wave started 10mins later. I was running with my friends at a comfortable pace with a 4mins run 1 min walk strategy. The speed we are going is approx 9km/hr and i was taking it very easily as to prevent any injuries for my ultra marathon week after. I was targetting to be back before 3hours,

At about 7km mark, I decided to go ahead with my pace; The distance marking placed on every kilometre was relatively accurate (according to my garmin watch). I was very impressed by the organizer. Sufficient water point throughout the whole race but i only drank after 12km distance. There were too many U-turns point and i felt quite confused with the route. But nevertheless, i’m able to remain alert so i would not skip any turning point.

I came in with a timing of 2:32:48 (nett) with the 4mins run 1min walk method. I’m relatively fine with my results as next week is sundown ultramarathon 84km which requires much slower pace than the current one im going. Hopefully i can achieve the timing im aiming and going for.

Anyways, after the race, all 25kms runners would entitled a duffel bag, a finisher tee, medal, as well as some light refreshments. On my way to the baggage counter, i saw a huge queue and i was shocked wondering how long would i need to wait to get my bag. But luckily it was belong to another side of the counters, and it was a breeze for collecting my bag. Felt sorry for those runners whom having a hard time waiting to get their bags. After that, I waited for my friends to finish the race and head back to stadium. Initially, we wanted to take cab, but there we no cab and we believed drivers might not wish to drive us as well due to stinky attire and stuff. we decided to walk further up and luckily the shuttle bus was there waiting for more runners to fill up the seatings. We board the bus and back to stadium.

Eaten burger king after the race was nothing but SHIOK. but one thing which is not SHIOK is we kana summon $30 for not displaying parking coupons..(forgetful me); luckily my friends decided to split the cost and everything was back to normal.
