Run Nus 2008

Today is the Nus Run 2008 organized by some NUS students. Its a total of 10km run. So went there together with one of the sgrunner, bryan, small little 13 year old boi -.-. As His race pack is with me, hence need to meet up with him. Chatted with him a while and soon my race started off first. my race started off at 8am. First off, upslope for a few secs, after which gradient, follow by upslope and abit of downslope. The route at the beginning is within NUS campus; after approx 4km or so, finally ran pass haw par villa and i knew we are running towards kent ridge park.
The route was quite familiar to me as i used to run there with one of my friend after working at science park. Well the water point was sufficient but they could have more waterpoint due to the amount of upslope we have to run. I remembered once running with my friend from kent ridge park downslope; and now i’m running the opposite way, upslope. It was much more difficult than i thought. After a while, i reached vigiliate drive, the most famous for continously downslope. I can feel my foot rubbing against the route due to fricition. After that , i knew the distance was not measured accurately. I overtook alot of pple during the so called “99 wan” towards NUS. the reason being i used to train there during my sundown marathon; hence i know the pacing ii should be doing.
I thought everything is going to end in a few minutes. Never will i know, when i reached the finishing point, my polar watch tells me its 12.14km. The most misleading is the part that i ran overshot. Their finishing line sign was placed behind. so i thought we have to run abit more. I was like wth. -.-. but anyway i came in 1:09:50 for a decent 12km run; at an avg speed of 10.4km/hr.
Well as for the small little boy , bryan, he came in 1st in his category U-18 Men’s Youth. Haha. He said that his only opponent was the guy from RJC-J2. But is very impressive that a 13 year old kid can upbeat him. Well done bryan (if you reading this post).
Well thats all folks. Next sun would be my army half marathon. Target Timing would be 1:50. (hard to achieve).
For now, Train hard; Train well

Thanks to min H for taking a pciture of me finishing the race.
