This is the second year of Nike Human Race and this is also my first time taking part in this race.  I woke up at around 4:50am and left my house at around 5:30am to meet my friend in Sengkang MRT. On the way to the destination, I saw a lot of people wearing the same shirt as well. We went there early as we want to deposit our bag.

We reached there around 6:40am which I thought was very late for the line up of queue to deposit our bag. To our surprise, there is a lot of  line for the queue for the baggage deposit and it take us less than a minutes to check in our bag. After that, we proceed to the starting line up and I think we were like standing behind of 1000 people. While waiting for the run to start, there were rock band performing music.

At 7:10am, the horn went off and we are still walking as there is too many runner in front of us, it took us around 3 minutes to reach the starting line and we can only jog slowly. Until it reach around 1km, we can start to do a normal jogging although it is still so squeezy. We have to run very carefully as everyone was very close to each other.

At around 2.5 km, some runners start to walk and even take photos with their camera, they didn’t realise that they should walk on the left side so as to let the faster runners to overtake as stated in the Nike Human Race guide etiquette. While approaching the first hydration points, I saw nearly 10 people queuing up for the toilet and surround at the hydration points to collect their free ice mountain mineral waters or 100 plus. My friends and I skip the first hydration point as we are still doing fine.

On the way to the 2nd hydration point, somehow the weather is quite humid, I have no choice but to keep myself hydrate and drink a few sip of water. Although this year t-shirt is dri-fit, but I saw a lot of people sweat a lot and their sweat will stick to their body. To my surprise, I saw a few people take out and twist their shirt and a lot of sweat dripping off.

I kept control my pace and tell myself not to stop except some hydration point. It is great that every km has a distance marker so that I can keep track of my timing as I thought only some certain place have distance marker as stated in the race guide. When I saw the 9KM sign, I keep jogging all the ways toward the finishing point and saw some people started to sprint all the way.  Finally I reach the finishing point and I am pleased that I completed the race. There were people distributing the mineral water, 100 plus, 100 plus paper fan and last but not least, the Finisher Band as showed in the picture. In addition, there is a lot of booth like starbucks, donut factory and ice cream booth.

All in all, I think this is a great run and the organisation is very well. I have really enjoyed and experience on a first huge race in my life. I would like to take this opportunity to thanks Alvin for recommending me this run and also guidance on running tips and training and also my friends who accompany me to run frequently as well.
