running alck

It was my very first time doing trail run since i started running for 3years+. Salomon X-Trail Run was held for the 2nd time in Tampines Mountain Bike Trail. It was located near Tampines Ave 12.

I reached at about 0615 and parked my car near block 411. Its about 10mins walk to the start point. As i was walking towards the start point; i recognized that route was part of the sundown marathon route. I hanged around there and do some stretching. Catch up with some friends e.g. william, eng chuan and jun xiong. Chatted a while and the race started exactly 0730. No delay at all!

The route was very challenging especially the merry-go-round trail. I remembered very clearly that one part of the route, runners are forced to step into a puddle of mud water; some are smart enough to avoid it but for experience wise, i stepped into it. Good thing is that my new balance 405 was waterproof and does not affect much for the rest of my run. Most of the upslope are gradual and maintain pacing was not really a problem.

Some of the route are narrow and you cant overtake e.g. the merry go round route. But some of the runners would move aside so that runners behind them could be able to overtake them etc… Sadly to say, i fall down in one part of the route but lucky i didn’t sprain my ankle etc. thank god~

I came in a timing of 56:12. I didn’t expect to do such timing as I know that trail run was meant to be harder and it was my very first attempt. Surprisely, I’m just 5 mins later than my usual 10km run.

On the whole, the event was well organized with sufficient water point, distance marking, energetic volunteers whom scream and cheered loudly at runners to keep them motivated; and of course, the weather was just fine! thou it does rain after most of the runners finished. Sorry for those runners whom are caught in the rain; hope you did not catch a cold!

Till then, train hard and train well. Good luck for runners whom doing TNF as well as Nike Human Race the following week.
