Mizuno Wave Run 2009 Race Review

Participated the Mizuno Wave Run 10 miles (16km). The starting point is at Nanyang Polytechnic. I reached there pretty early as mentioned in the earlier post most of the entrance would be close because its weekend; but to my surprise, theres a guard to open the entrance for us. phew, do not need to waste time finding for other entrance.
anyway the race flagged off exactly 7.30am. The crowd was overwhelming; a lot of runners stuck at the beginning. i think they should consider flagging in different waves rather than everyone starts together.
Anyway run around NYP for at least 2km or so; saw the first water point at approx 2.5km but skipped it. I skipped the 5th km water point as well, focusing on the run. then most of the front runners ran up to the upper pierce road; i don’t remember there’s such a route in the map; but anyways i just follow through. And once i ran out of the upper pierce road; saw a water point and was surprised to see its only 7.5km; while my polar already tracked 8.5km or so. I was shocked wonder if the distance marker was accurate. So i drink up a bit and continue…
We have to make a U-turn near the entrance of the SLE expressway. When i was at the opposite side, i saw most of the runners running the pavement rather than going up the upper pierce road; i was gosh, am i running more than intended?
Anyway stopped quite a few times because due to traffic light and was halted by TP. The last part to finishing point was a killer because there’s a slope but was rather challenging.
Overall, the race i would say was rather challenging; firstly is because of the uneven terrain of running route, 2nd is the weather was quite hot and humid. I was rather sure that the distance we ran is more than 16km. Thou my polar cloaked 16.54km and timing was 1:36:02. I was rather shocked to do such timing because i expect to come in below 1:30. All finishers are awarded with a finisher medal and a chance of a lucky draw
Till then, rest well and see u next race. Cheers!

exactly. i ran upwards, and was kinda pissed when i see runners running below. we are not wrong. coz remember when u went upwards, there was marshals? i dun remember seeing the marshals @ the bottom.
well. i supposed running 16.09344km is the correct one. but the distance from gate to stadium is almost there. about 400? so, i guess that equates the the answer…
