SAFRA Singapore Bay Run & Army Half Marathon 2009 Review
Despite down with a flu and slight fever the day before, I manage to get myself up to participate this annual Safra Singapore Bay Run & Army Half Marathon 2009. This is my 3rd year joining this event; I didnt manage to participate during my army days as first year my company was assigned to do duties in Jurong Island, in my second year, my unit was assigned to do national day parade 2007. I signed up my first half marathon in 2007 as public.
I would say every year this big event is improving in terms of organization, water point, distance marker and supporters. I would have done better this year as the route looks much simpler; was down with flu and slight fever, hence didnt really push myself to the limits. Manage to cloak in 2:06 timing which is decent i would say.
I didnt catch hold of any friends this year because I rushed home to rest right after the race. This year the 21km category starts off at 5:30am and i completed about 7:35+.
Overall, this race was well organized and will be coming back next year 2010. Till then, congrats to all whom have completed your race.

Shouldn’t you be at home resting rather than passing your flu to other runners? kindly be responsible

Hi mh,
thanks for your concern. I understand i should be responsible for my own health and prevent from passing the flu to others. nevertheless, i did measure my temperature before i go for the run and was ok to run.
the night before, i was encouraged by my friends not to take part too…and i also told myself that if the illness get worse, i would just forgo this race.
I will keep in mind to be responsible as always as H1N1 is still on the go.
Thanks
