KL marathon 42.195km
KL marathon was held on the 30th March 2008. I left Singapore on the 29th March 2008, 9am. Took a coach bus and the journey was freaking long. Reached ancasa hotel KL at about 3.30pm. The receptionist told us that we have to wait for another 30 mins as their room is still in the mid of cleaning up. I messaged one of the sgrunners, francis as he helped me to collect the racepack. Met up with him to collect it and was told to meet at the lobby 3.30am on the race day. Went to eat and shop during the night time and slept at around 2330.
Woke up at around 2.45am and went to bathe. Ate 2 bananas and a can of red bull to energize myself. Met up with sg runners and walk to the start point. Do some warm-up run and ready for the race.
The flag off for 42km starts 4.30am sharp. I start to go slow pace as I have experienced some muscle ache during my 42km in Singapore last dec. The first few kilometer was quite enjoyable as the gradient varies from km to km. Some are flat route and some are upslope which is quite challenging. The running route is mostly on expressway.
At around 6.30am, there were alot of cars and the traffic control management was kinda out of hand. Although they have some barricade to indicate there is a running event going on, drivers don’t seems to care. We have to look out traffic for ourselves to avoid any accident.
I’m trying hard to achieve my personal best below 5hr compared the one i did in Singapore was 5:28:13. Surprisely, i did not feel much muscle aching perhaps due to the regular training done in Singapore. I came in at a timing of 4:53:51 which I’m very happy about it.
Although, the route is hard and traffic is quite unmanageable; and breathing all the unwanted air from those cars. I managed to conquer it and feel proud about it.
Below is the picture of the race pack and finisher goodies.
